Innovative ventilated glass facade with Glassics System
Glassics by Steindl Glas is a new solution for cladded, ventilated facades with European Technical Approval. This innovative system provides an economical and easily implementable solution for frameless glass facades. Glassics offers, in addition to physical construction advantages, countless design and printing options. The maximum glass size is 2500 x 5000 mm per single pane of glass. A combination stone and glass facade was first designed by the architect office Staab in Berlin for the new construction of the Information-Communication and Media Centre of the University of Potsdam. An innovative 2800 m² ventilated façade surrounds the building, which is two-thirds glass and one-third granite. The facade glass is made of 8 mm toughened glass (heat-soak-tested) and is printed on level 1 with a satin finish and on level 2 with a cloud design. For the substructure, the BWM system was used. The insulation used was made of a fleece backed mineral wool.
